Balancing elevators ? What?s the best way to balance them with manual trim, if I leave the cable in it will offset the balance due to its stiffness, if I leave it out I am not accounting for its weight? Any suggestions?

Balancing elevators

Balance them without the trim cable. Make it a touch nose heavy to account for paint later. Since there is trim cable both forward and aft of the hinge line, it is balanced (close enough for our purposes). This balance should be as close as you can get it, of course, but is not hyper-critical.
