ARGH!

My back-rivet set broke the roll pin that hold the nylon collar on. This is a 1/8" roll-pin and both ears broke. So, I went to McMaster-Carr to get them and guess what? you have to order 100 pins! *sigh*

So, if anyone out there has a broken pin on their back-rivet set, send me your address and I'll send a couple.

*sigh*

This has been a common failure for many years.
20 years ago I repaired mine by cutting a short piece off of an appropriate diam. (dull) drill bit (the un-fluted shank portion) with a cutting disk and tapped it into the hole. It has been that way ever since.

OSH has them, too...I have a handful in my tool box, because they seem to fail at the worst possible time.

I had an offset backrivet set that had a roll pin fail within a week of getting it... grrrrr....

When the one I bought from Avery did that, I contacted them and received a few.

Same thing happened to mine. I just cut a finish nail to length and bent the ends so it would fall out. This has worked fine for many years:D
