I was planning to hang the engine and do the cowl fiberglass work before installing the avionics but reading ahead into section 45 it looks like the avionics must be installed before some of the cables that are hooked up BEFORE the engine is hung can be run. Did anyone do engine/avionics or is avionics/engine sequence the best way to do this?

Engine before avionics

Wayne,
I purchased the engine and hung it without having the avionics. There have not been any problems yet. I connected the wires to the engine. I skipped those steps where the plans say to connect the other end of the engine wires to the panel. I will do them when I have the avionics.
My reasoning for buying the engine first is that the engine will not change much. However, avionics are constantly evolving and improving. By waiting until the end to purchase avionics, I hope to get the latest and greatest with the bugs worked out.
