I was visiting a friend this weekend who loves to build just about anything using metal. Thought I'd pass along one of the tools/toys he uses to dress up some of his parts:

It's a powder coat system that seems to work pretty well (not sure if it's because of the system or the fact that he's got how to do it down to a science). I'm sure it's not as durable or showy as a professional job, but for the money, I thought it might be a good way to give a few RV parts a cool look.

Make sure you ask for an oven as well. I haven't been allowed in the kitchen since I stunk up the microwave drying out desiccant plugs

Eastwood Powder Coater

I bought an Eastwood powder coating kit. Think I paid about $100 for it. Works great. But as someone mentioned, you need to bake the stuff in an oven that is not used for baking!!! Nice thing is, if you have the room in your garage, you can pick one up out of the classified adds pretty cheap.

I used the Sears system for my tailwheel mount, since it came from Van's untreated. It seemed to work really good, but only time will tell. If I had taken the same piece to a shop that does powdercoating it would have cost $35. Since I don't envision doing a lot of powdercoating, that would have been cheap too.
