I installed the Archer VOR antenna in the left wing tip.
All connectors installed and when I went to put the wing tip back
on the wing, the antenna part under the plate nuts is too long.
The part where I have the arrow is hitting the end rib of wing before
the holes in the skin and tip line up.
I would have to cut .250" off the width to fit the wing tip on the
the wing.
Would that affect the receiving quality of the antenna.
Any and all suggests appreciated.

The short answer is "no".

Anything grounded to the airframe along your rivet/nut plate line is is electrically exactly the same as your wing skin. Cut away.
