In my instructions there is a provision for calibrating the amps reading and "zero" it. However, when I have turn on the master and have the unit powered along with other items on the bus such as intercom, etc. I'm actually pulling about 3 amps (which I verified with a meter). Is there anyway to set a 3 amp offset rather than "zero" it to calibrate the instrument? I may have older software and instructions as my VM1000C was one of the first ones out. My instructions are 5010020J.doc. Not sure what software version I have.

I'd say etiher remove the sensor from the cable, or temporarily disconnect the battery/alternator "big" wire and jumper around the sensor with another "big" wire (doesn't need to be too big at 3 amps) to power your stuff.
