Hi

I did it again.

I managed to cut my gear leg faring for the RV8A (same as 7A, 6A) the same way. There needs to be cut different for the left and the right.

My question is if there is anyone else out there that has done the same and ordered the new fairing from Van's (only sold in pairs).

If so, I am willing to buy that lonely faring.

You can easily mend the part you cut off . Chamfer the meeting edges at 100:1 , and lay up with progressively wider strips till the chamfer is filled. Smooth off. Add one or two thin plies to the inside. This should only take a couple of hours and will be not noticable at all if done properly.

Please don't beat yourself up over it. You can repair it, good advice above, but check with Van I am pretty sure they will sell you one. Why? Because many people do this. I didn't mess the gear legs up, but trust me we all make the left/right mistake. Doha! (If its not too expensive you may want to buy it.)
