I purchased a vans 60 amp alt recetly due to the cowl fit. Yesterday a friend mentioned he had one that went into an overcharge mode ( high voltage) and burned up his radio. The problem it seems is once this occurs shutting off the alt switch will not shut down the output. It was suggested to remove the internal reg and use an external one.
Anybody have this problem and what fixes were used?
