All,

The tanks are sealed, and I am needing to finsihing the fuel float sender wiring. Since the tanks are sealed and I don't want to disrupt that, I would rather not use one of the sender mounting screws as a ground. I'm wondering if people have found acceptable results with grounding it to another screw in the area (tank attach bracket, etc.).

Depends on your gauge. I planned to use common ground but found my EFIS was sensitive and had to run the ground direct. That meant isolating the sender even from the tank. I did a brief write up with pictures here. Note: I went with the cork gaskets for the sender plates and the rubber gaskets for the sender itself, rather than prosealing everything in permanently.
 
I ran a separate ground wire from one of the screws of the sender directly to the ground bus. Rock solid fuel readings, never a problem.
