Can I fly through an alert area vfr?

Short answer, yes. But I would want to be talking to whoever controls the airspace at a minimum. Going to be high volume or unusual air activity.

The Alert always gives a reason. Check that reason. In my area there is a high volume of training so we have a few Alert areas.
Ours mentions " Caution: High Volume of Flight Training Surface to 4000' msl"
Very busy area and the controllers would not be happy if you called them.
No special requirements to fly in the alert but be ALERT.
