We were flying up and saw this on our Foreflight. Could this be the race, late morning on Sunday?

A funny occurrence in the race

If you have seen the trailers for the up coming movie "Planes" it seems impossible for the scene 55 miles before turn 1 at Dixon Illinois not to bring a smile to your face. Ah well, you had to be there.

I was but the results in the press release only go through 3rd place

Bob, I was wondering why you weren't with the RV Blue results.

There were 8 planes in the RV Blue class and I was 4th place 209.61 mph

An unofficial list I received from Alan Carroll shows the following for RV Blue:

Jon Ross RV-8 217.74 (MPH)
Jeff Barnes RV-6 215.56
Alan Carroll RV-8 209.98
Bob Axsom RV-6A 209.51
Tom Moore RV-7A 203.93
Trevor Smith & Jim Huff RV-6 202.41
Eugene Ladda & Lynn O'Donnell 197.47
Kevin Phelps & Joe Conlon RV-7A 180.21

Once the full results come out I will post them here.

I want to know how John Keich got 2 people in a Midget Mustang?!? [see 2nd place, Sprint class]

Now I know I'm bigger than I should be, but I can barely fit ONE person in my Midget Mustang!

That is a photo that I took of John and his Midget Mustang earlier at another race.

Great guy and he always looks the part of a real racer. I flew in to Mt. Vernon on Friday and Saturday morning I saw John's plane in the open front of the FBO hangar with the right wing a little higher that the left - not a good sign. When he landed he had a flat on the right side. When I walked over there, a very attractive young girl was down there installing the new tire. John introduced her as Amanda the crew chief on his Midget Mustang. John says she is quite good as an aircraft mechanic and he is obviously proud of her. Usually your assumption is correct, if there are two names they are both in the plane but not always. Another single place airplane that has had two names listed in the program and the results is the Polen Special that Dick Keyt owns and flies. John alone gets in the Midget Mustang.

I work with John, known him for years, and he is located at our airport. Amanda is a mechanic at a shop on the airport (and plays pretty good drums). John has used her as his mechanic for several years.
