Assembling my ailerons and come to find that my tops skins (a-902) are 3/32's short than the bottom skins. The end rib sticks out and generally looks terrible this way. I'm almost positive this is not supposed to be this way but I thought I'd ask - is this right?

Just a side note, as I was peeling the protective plastic off the skins, the top and the bottom skins were very different - one was very hard to get the plastic off and the other was very very easy to get it off. So I'm pretty sure this a case of different production runs. I'm not happy about this at all.

Checked mine

Todd,

I just went out to the shop and pulled my aileron skins out and checked them...they are both identical in length (top and bottom skins).

Looks like a screw up to me. I'd send a polite email to Vans and attach the pics. You might get some sort of "make-do" plan from them, but I think the pic will persuade them to sent the right stuff.

Mine have the same problem, perhaps slightly less severe. Actually all 4 of my ailerons have the same problem :)

(Why do I have 4 ailerons? Be really careful countersinking the no-dimples-allowed spar. It's not thick enough -- design flaw IMHO)

i had the same thing on one skin about 1/4'' vans replaced it seams it is a setup deal with punch press
