We have just released our latest version V5.8.12 of the moving map to our beta testers. We should have a production release in the next week.

Highlights:
• Terrain for the map including Major Roads, Rivers, lakes, and cities
• Map only option.
• DG coordinate shading for better contrast.
• CDI and BRG indicators can be driven from the map in parallel to GPS and NAV.

Rob, It looks great!

While flying yesterday, I reveled in the idea of how condensed my scan will become when I use your AF-3500.

I am looking forward to receiving my panel next month!

Thanks for working so hard on this stuff!

No more need for Garmin?

With the steady improvements to the AFS EFIS software, I'm left wondering if I need to have a Garmin 496 in the panel any more. Dual screen 3500 feed by a stand-alone hockey puck style GPS like this

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=139&pID=6445

and the map and XM weather options. Done. Why spend additional thousands on another GPS. I can see downsides as being no panel-page backup, all-eggs-in-one-basket, etc. But it sure is tempting. Anyone else?

Keep up the good work Rob.

Larry--

I've been thinking the same thing...redundancy being my stumbling block; and not just for NAV. The 496 has the GPS derived instrument page incase you're having a really bad day.

I've got time to decide:)
