Advice on Fuselage Transport

Anybody ever use a rental truck to move a fuse on gear with engine? If so, how'd you get it into the truck? Ramps? Manpower? Any advice is much appreciated.

Put my fus on a car trailer facing backwards. The landing gear was too wide to roll between the fenders of the trailer, so rather than devise a set of ramps to go over the fenders, we just put the tail first. I had all control surfaces installed and used mylar tape to keep them from flopping around. The cowling, engine, prop and canopy were all installed, too. I drywall screwed a pair of 2x4's crosswise into the wood trailer bed to lock the main gear wheels. I had the wings leading edge down in a cradle in the bed of my pickup. I drove on the freeway for about 50 miles like that and had zero problems. Was quite the spectacle!

For moving a short distance

Try this if you aren't moving too far away.

I've used U-Haul truck twice with good success. For pictures of ramp setup, see post at:
