Hopefully the photo can be viewed. Used 1/2" hose barb fittings and 1/2" heater hose. Will make carb balancing much easier.

This is just a temporary tool to aid carb balancing and then you'll remove it?
Because heater hose is not rated for fuel (vapor or liquid) and it will swell and/or split in short order.

You are “solving” a problem that isn’t really a problem. The carb balance is typically annually, maybe twice a year if you fly a lot. Making it a little easier by adding more complexity isn’t worth while.

Thanks for the heads up about the hose, I'll keep an eye on it. I added the valve because taking the hose ends off the tube is a PIA, I did the pinch method but never trusted how effective it was. IMHO it would be a benefit if a valve was added by the factory.

I still don't understand how this on/off valve is of use or simplifies the process. You still have to plumb a temporary tube from each vacuum gauge to each respective carb manifold. Accordingly the crossover balance tube only needs to be temporarily disconnected at one point.

No, there's a 10mm bolt forward of the hose fittings on the manifold, you remove the bolts and attach hose nipples for the Carbmate there. Having to pull apart the flex hose to from the balance tube was a PIA, the clamp that the carb support spring has to be removed because you can't get it loose enough, then trying to put the clamp back on is difficult because the clamp screw is short. This was my experience, I have done many carb sync's not just on my engine but many other 912/914 engines. I did this for myself and it saves me time. You may not mind taking the tube end off, On my balance tube there's an Adel clamp supporting the T fitting of the fuel lines which has to be taken loose before you disconnect balance tube as well so it's just a time saver for me....
