Supposing that a registered FAA dealer/manufacturer is also a builder of a Van's aircraft. Can that dealer use the dealers aircraft registration certificate(AC-8050-5) in place of a end users registration certificate (8050-1) to obtain an airworthy certificate? Local fsdo, ok city reg, and local faa inspector didn't know. Dar that will be preforming inspection said no. Anyone have experience with this?

Cessna, Ford, Chevrolet, auto dealers etc. are not going to register each vehicle before sale to the end consumer. Why would this not apply to experimental aircraft?

Thanks for any info.

Looks like 8505-1 is required to process paperwork and get the ball rolling on an amateur built built aircraft. Thanks for the input.
