I posted here a while back about getting our 696 to pick up a initial position. I sorted out what is happening and thought it might help someone else. The 696 is arm mounted. Always worked great until we did the panel upgrade. It now sits about 4 inches away from a AFS 4500 screen. The two do not play well together. If I turn the 696 on before powering up the 4500 then lock on is very quick. If the 4500 is booted up it can take up to 45 minutes. If I go to the sat page and look at reception on each sat I am at less the 50 percent even with a lock. If I slip my ipad between the 696 and 4500 signs strength jumps to 100 percent instantly and drops back to half when the ipad is removed. I am using the internal antenna. It might be worth it for others in the future to check for interference when planning a panel. Bring up the satellite page and move the hand held around and note the changes.
