I just completed my IFR certification. During the certification the tech upgraded my WAAS software from v2 to v3. He stated that certified
aircraft are required to carry the latest books in the aircraft after making
that upgrade to my software. He said he was unsure if experimental
aircraft have the same requirement. He said he would refund the $45
for the books, if I can show him that experimental aircraft don't have
the same requirements.

I already have the books issued with the 430W and wasn't feeling as
tho I needed another set.

Anyone have any knowledge along these lines??
Thanks,

Will,

I had my 430 upgraded to WAAS last October. Garmin provided a whole new set of user manuals at that time. I recently had my local Avionics shop update the software per Garmin's directions. They did not provide a new set of manuals, they only provided a new Flight Manual Supplement which is only a few pages in length. There was no charge for the new software upgrade, that's covered by Garmin.

Wow! That is just what I was looking for. I will show this
to Brady at Wings Avionics, Inc. at Fayetteville, Ar. (Drake
Field), who did my IFR cert and expect he will return the
money for my set of books and we will get the adendum to
the v.3.

Thanks so much for your input!!
