For the Trailing Edge of the Rudder and Elevators, Van's suggest using the 3M double sided tape. On the rudder I used one layer on both sides and found that the seal was good but not great. On the Elevators I applied two layers of the tape and got excellent results. My suggestion is to always apply two layers for best results.
