Hey Folks, I have a non standard thickness SS firewall that looks like it was lightented again with extra holes...just kidding but I have bought a standard thickness firewall and want to use the old one on the cockpit side and pop rivet nutplates to it with the new SS one with the minimum holes in front. I'm I nuts?
Don't answer that part....
Thanks!

If I understand correctly, you're planning on keeping the non-standard firewall in place and attaching a correct firewall with screws, to nutplates that you'd add to the current one.

The firewall is part of the primary structure. It might be better to replace the current one completely with a new one, even thought it requires more work.

One worry I'd have, not knowing how far along the fuselage is, would be maintaining the very important straightness of the fuselage when you do this.

Pictures would be helpful.

Yes, doubling the FW...

The first one is so thin but would be good for attaching nutplates...not much else!
I just want to know if pop rivets ok for attaching nutplates or are they too wimpy?
