Hard to believe I know, but the very 1st RV-8A had it's maiden flight today here in the UK and possibly Europe?

Pilot/Builder Chris Harrison flew G-RVCH from a small strip in the glorious Devonshire countryside for a 20min flight.

G-RVCH has a modified nosewheel geometry designed by Bill Knot and also using the recently modified nose leg from Van's. This provides for a larger 5" tire.

The aircraft has a Lycoming IO360-200 and performed faultlessly throughout the flight. Looks great too and is bound to attract the 'groupies' at the various Van's meets in the UK.

Well done Chris!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Chris Harrison for the first UK RV-8A flight! David, how about posting some pictures in the "Finished RV-8/8A" section? Closeups and descriptions of the nose gear geometry would be interesting. Is the "small strip" a grass field?

Cheers!
