Default Kansas City to Palm Springs Ca

A friend/student is planning to fly his Pa32-260 from KC to Palm Springs this June. Route advice through the mountains and local Wx hazards as well as airports along the way and close to Palm Springs would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy

KC to Las Vegas, Nevada, hang a right to Palm Springs.

Fuel stops and weather are up to you.

Just keep in mind that the winds at Plam Springs can get very bad very quickly. There is a little airport to the southeast of Palm Springs (can't recall the name at the moment) that is often very nice while it is blowing like mad at Palm Springs. One time I flew out from Prescot, AZ to that little airport, turns out the restaurant was closed for a remodel, winds were 5 knots variable. Decided to make the quick hop over to Palm Springs. Picked up the ATIS in the air, winds were 40 knots with LLWS....at least it was straight down the runway.

Also keep in mind that they are extremely proud of their runway and apron at Palm Springs. There are landing fees and tie down fees-all well out of line with almost any other airport. Best do your research before coming in here.
