Where it all began. Van's farm on Google street view.
I was snooping around Google Earth today and found this street view of Van's farm in Oregon. The field in the right side of the picture is where the airstrip was.
I think it should be made into a national historic site.

To a guy who grew up in the South and lives in the Midwest, that's an odd looking barn. Any rhyme or reason why it's designed that way? Looks like a Class 1 mod on the back side.

Sorry guys, Van just cruised by my desk and informed me that this wing was from the original RV-3 that is parked at the EAA Museum and not from the RV-1. He should have bet money on that one...
Still, a neat slice of history... Thanks for posting!
