Default First Engine Start video - 704CH

Here is an HD video Bekah took that includes a nice walk around during my first engine start. Turned out pretty good, engine ran great.. Sunny day in Seattle about a week ago.. Very exciting and stressful day.

Default Fun to watch

I enjoyed the video. It was weird to watch the prop at the beginning stretch this way and that, kind of like me in the morning, before I'm warmed up.

Seriously, though, I wonder how running with the cowl off affects the cooling of the engine.

What are the pros and cons of first engine start with the cowling off or on?

Just don't run it for long or at high power and its fine. Easier to look for leaks and smoke and fire with the cowl off for first start up.

yes, the prop looks like a new type of flexible carbon fiber . ;-)

Congrats Chad! (You deserve it after that long commute up to KPAE! )

Won't be too long now! Good luck with the rest of your tests and inspection.
