Default Engine Question

I realize this is a rather elementary question - but, I am looking at going through Van's for a new engine. My question is - what is included with the engine? Carb, mags, alternator, oil cooler, fuel pump, etc.....????

I think I know the answer, but just checking.

Thanks

I didn't get my engine from Vans, but am pretty sure the answers below are correct.

Carb - Yes
Mags - Yes
Alternator - No, part of the firewall forward kit Vans sells
Oil Cooler - No, part of the firewall forward kit Vans sells
Engine Mounted fuel pump - Yes
Electrical Fuel pump - No, part of the firewall forward kit Vans sells

Great question, one that I was wondering too. I'm looking at a FI though, assuming the FI system would come with the engine?

Probably the best engine - value for money for quality/service/advice and performance is aerosport power.. I have never heard of a customer who has not been completely satisfied.

I have been very pleased with my experience with Penn Yan Aero, 68 years or something in the engine building business, impressive.

That's correct. Another way to look at it is the FWF kit in the catalog from Vans. If its in that kit it's not sold with the engine.

Yes, if you order an IO model. The default is a Bendix system. I was able to swap out for an Airflow Performance system, but they really don't like making changes to the standard configuration.

Since you are a RV-10 builder, you might want to search the archives.

Van's still isn't shipping the appropriate bushings in the FWF kit that will allow proper alignment of the alternator due to a change that they made to the engine config. They've been charging folks $30 for the kit.

If you buy your engine from any other source other than Van's, this should be a factor.
