Default Firewall Doubler for Air/Oil Separator

I'm going to mount my air/oil septarator when I get home this evening. I have done some searching and see a lot of posts about the install, but not much about the doubler to support the separator. While not heavy, it is still enough to need additional support on the back of the firewall. I am thinking about running some angle or a piece of .063 with a formed edge from the top of the firewall down to the top firewall stiffener.

What have others done in this area, particularly those flying that have some service history.

Thanks,

I fabricated and installed a piece of .063 4" square plate with rolled edges vertically on the inside of the firewall. I also added an additional support using an Adel clamp for the input hose and at the bottom for the vent hose I used a standoff and the brake reservoir bolt. It's solid as can be....

That added clamp on the output hose is a great idea. That would prevent a lot of the flext I was concerned with. I am hoping I can get close enough to the center support rib on the firewall to tie into that, but I may have to move the Sep farther to the right to clear my 90* filter adapter.

Thank you for the input.

Default What Bill said

The 2 adel clamps pretty much take care of the vibration issue, I have the same set up on my 10.
Don't know what aircraft you are goint to install it but on the 10 it's pretty hard to get to the back of the firewall with a nut or wrench.
I Installed two nutplates on a 3"x3" aluminum square< .063> holes matched to the oil separator mount. I was able to fish the plate up with a wire and install it from the front without ever getting to the back of it. Once both mounting screws are started the plate won't rotate and effectively acts as a doubler.
