Default Garmin 396 viewing angle?

I had some friends pickup the AirGizmo Angle Adaptor for my 196/296/396 Panel Dock while in OSH.

After holding it in place I?m wondering if I really need it or not since my future Garmin 396 will sit high and just to the right of center in the panel.

Could someone with a 396 give me some insight as to the viewing angle?

Although I used plate nuts, the design of my panel makes it a PITA to remove the AirGizmo and install the adaptor and I would hate to have to go in there at a later date to change something, like when the panel is fully installed. Looking at a picture of my panel might help.

Thanks for the help!

Default 396 angle

Yes-you need the additional tilt the adapter provides since you have it mounted so far over to the right. Otherwise, you will miss many details available on your 396.

After almost a hundred hours with my 396, I would recommend as much overhang above the unit as you can build in to 'shade it' and as close to the pilot and as far to the top of the panel as you can put it.
