Default RV-8 Wing tips

Finishing up new style wing tips on the RV-8. On the aft inboard edge, there is a gap between aft edge and where the fiberglass tip aluminum bulkhead is riveted to the fiberglass tip. Is this triangular space left open for drainage, or is this space expected to be filled in?

Default false rib

There is a false rib that came with my tips. I riveted it in to help provide some strength and to keep varmits out.

Those little triangles are open on all of my RV wing-tips...I like the sound of "drainage hole" as well....
