Default Useful load

I've had my eye out for a RV-6 and got to looking at the useful load. If I'm figuring right it kinda sucks considering I tip the scales at 230.

1600 gross wt.
1032 empty wt.
=568 useful
228 fuel
230 pilot
=110 for passenger and baggage

This is for a 6 with 180 hp. I was looking at a 6 with a 160 and it only leaves 80# for passenger and bags. I was hoping they would carry me with full tanks and have around 200# left over. Are all RV'ers light weights or just have light passengers?

You might search the forum for gross weight.

That's why Van's came out with the 14. The builder shorted the gross weight by at least 50#. But, you will also find that empty weight is a little under also.

Van's also increased the gross weights on the 7/8 to 1800#
