Default dark colours

I know it's ridiculous to be thinking about paint schemes before I've even ordered the Empannage... but I saw this RV-9A on the web that had the coolest looking black (or super-dark blue?) paint. The reg is G-RUVY (the U.K I think?)

Question - with some composite airplanes they say you pretty much have to paint them white, or mostly white, because otherwise they heat up too much and this causes problems. Is this true of aluminum airplanes? Is there any reason not to go with a solid very dark colour?

Question - for an ameteur paint job, is it harder to get professional look with a really dark colour, than with white?
