ACS Ignition Switch and Shieled wire question

Ok I can't find it on here so I'm asking...

I have an ACS switch and dual P-Mags. ACS says to shield EVERYTHING. Bob Nuckolls says nothing I can find about shielded wire. Here is the Z-13.

(Now remember this is not "Mags" on Z-11. It's Z-13 with P-Mags)

Also I did not see anything in the instructions from Brad at E-Mag about using shielded wire. He just said use 18ga for power and ground and 20ga for the rest.

So ACS switch, to shield or not to shield?

... mag leads are shielded. You don't want any "spurious" signals or induction effects on a mag lead. They're kinduv important.

Try the P-Mag manual

Power (to Pin #5) and Ground (to engine case, Pin #1) "should be 18awg", all others (inc. 'P-Lead') "can be 20awg". No (stated) need for shielding.

As you say (Bob), these are P-Mag "kill signal" leads, just a pure "on/off" signal line to a "computer".

Thanks for the replies. Both of em... I would have thought more people are running this combo.

Couple of things. I have read the P-Mag install manual and didn't see anything about shielding. I also studied Bob Nuckolls drawings which also say nothing about shielding.

So here is the conclusion for the books:
1. Spoke to Brad at E-Mag and he say the P-Mag DOES NOT NEED shielded wire.
2. Also spoke to Stein at Stein Air and he confirmed this.

Regular mags need shielded wire on the P-lead only because of the high noise generated by this lead. P-Mags do not need this. It is a different animal entirely. The only thing that MAY happen is you could pick up noise from spark plug wires. This is very unlikely and easily correctable if it does.
