Default Lycomings ie2 electronic engine management technology

I've been looking at the YouTube videos of Lycomings Fadex system and wanted to know what is the opinion of that next generation of technology for "Lean of Peak" and the unleaded/ lower octane fuels that are on the horizon. On Lycomings web site they had a good article about how not to try to do "Lean of Peak" because too many bad things can go wrong in a short amount of time. Good little read. My opinion is it is the future. In another Lycoming video it mentions how solid state ignition has no gears or mags that need service.
I would be nice if Vans and Lycoming started a research program on it.
If the price was right (could be cheaper in some ways,no above mention mags and gears) I would be interested.
Here is a 2012 Airventure talk on the subject by Lycoming.

I found this YouTube today. Sounds like all Lycoming are headed towards ie2 configuration, but who knows how long it will take?
Most of you have seen this before I'm pretty sure.

Default Potential Failures

I wonder what some of the failure situations are like.
What happens if there is an electrical fire and I shut off the battery and alternator, will the motor continue to run?

I'm sure we'll find out as time goes on.
