Default Rube Goldberg Longeron Straightening

Straightening some of the formed angles has been a pain. This is how the lower longerons looked when received.

This is how I have been straightening.

The lever style straightener does a decent job but is slow and not as consistant as I would like. So to speed things up I built this Rube Goldberg device. I admit this thing is just one notch above firewood but it did work well.

For simplicity I affixed the upper roller to the table via the side plates. The bottom portion with the 4 rollers is floating. Shims are used under the bottom floating portion to provide tension for rolling the angles.

The rollers are wood and were cut with a hole saw. The lower rollers are attached with lag bolts and the upper roller uses all thread for a crank handle. Like I said, not very high tech but it wouldn't be much work to build a decent example of this little roll.

I'm sure Rube would be proud.
