Default Lightspeed Plasma III dual kit on ebay

the mounting ears on the coils are broke off. I'm wondering if this is something that can be repaired in the field. Where would these coils be mounted? They appear to have been on the engine side of the firewall because they look dusty. It has the direct crank sensor. Offered by Wentworth buy it now price is $1295. bid is at $81.00. Reserve not met.

Default I have to wonder...

I have to wonder what demise that aircraft came to to break off the coil mounts. It makes me suspect that perhaps it was enough of a deceleration that the reliability of the boxes themselves, or the direct crank pick-up board may have.

The sensor board is a wash; they cut the leads. That would make a good opportunity to use the new mini-sensor. But I agree, unless you could install and test in the 30-day period, that's a heck of a gamble. And you'd still have to make all-new harnesses (probably plug cables, too, and you don't know the condition of the plugs and plug adapters in that plastic bag). Easy for me to say, since I already have them new for both my projects, but I wouldn't be the slightest bit tempted.

You can buy the coils from Nology for about $75 each. http://www.nology.com/profire.php or this distributor was very helpful
http://fasteddysports.com/
You want item No. 152 001 070. Alternately, Item No. 152 001 070T is the same coil but with Lucas/Triumph output connectors. You can buy the Lucas terminals on ebay and put them on the spark plug wires but Nology can also supply spark plug tower adapters that makes the Lucas outputs into sparkplug towers. You need .6 ohm coils for electronic ignitions. They are all made by PVL with a Nology label pasted on.

I would imagine that the cut wires to the crank sensor can be spliced or replaced. You can make new D-sub connectors with wires for the boxes. Klaus's manuals are downloadable on his website.

Lightspeed will checkout the boxes on request. He would probably redo the wiring for a price.
