Default Countersink e-702? WHY!?

Plans call for countersinking E-702 so that it and E-709 can fit flush, allowing WD-605 to lay flat. This material is very thin, would be easy to countersink to much, would it be ok to just dimple these parts instead?

dont recall exactly what the 702 is off the top of my head, but I would think dimpling would be ok if it did not make something on the backside of the material (that was supposed to be countersunk) not sit flush because of the dimple.

It's the spar/rib of the elevator. They want a flush surface so the powder coated elevator horn can mate properly. The confusing part is they call for countersinking instead of dimpling. The backside of the rivet has plenty of clearance with dimple or without.

oh, yes. if i recall corrrectly on mine, I countersunk the first elevator and wasnt totally happy with the outcome so I believe I dimpled the second one. Thinking back, I think if I could do it again, I would have dimpled both. I dont recall any reason not to dimple.
