Default oil temperature too low & vernatherm valve

There is a system to know if my Lycoming brand new from Van's has a vernatherm valve installed ?

Before buying or thinking to an oil-cooler mod I like to understand more on my engine.

This page from the Superior overhaul manual shows the Vernatherm (#35).
