According to my GPS this past weekend, my max ground speed was just shy of MACH 1 below 15000 feet. My G meter showed +5 positive and -2.4 negative Gs. Evidently the GPS doesn?t like going inverted (loses signal) and gets confused, but I like it. Makes a fun conversation when I show off my airplane.
Can't help myself from posting my latest max speed shown on my GPS after practicing the know aerobatic sequence for 2013. That's 1483 kts, 1705 mph, or Mach 2.25 under 3000 feet AGL. Would be nice to know how the GPS gets fooled besides losing the signal when I'm inverted.
PS. I didn't notice the shock wave either.
