Question Letter of separation

Im trying to get my paper work in order for the FAA and Ive hit a snag in that the first owner of my 1999 RV 6 kit reg it with the FAA and got a N# and the reg in his name not much work was done on the kit so Ive built it and need a letter of separation with the first owner stating he did not build the kit does anyone have a copy of a (letter of separation) thats approved by the FAA that they could share.
Thanks Bob

I had to do that once, but my copies are at the airport. When I did mine, I called the FAA registration folks at Ok City and they basically dictated to me what I needed for wording. I think it had to be notarized, too, but not 100% sure on that one. They were very nice and it only took a few minutes.
Also, ask them if you need anything else. Seems I had several pieces of paper I had to send them.
Good luck.
