Default SKY

I almost literally cried when Tom Griffing told us that gorgeous airport would soon be closing.

Default HYA 2B1 Scenic

Gail and I go up to sightsee around the Cape.

Skip, Gail and Mark

We left HYA, flew around Gail & Mark's house then we wandered over by the Kennedy Compound.

It was a bit hazy but you could see Martha's Vinyard ok. We flew over Falmouth, then the USCG station before going to Marston Mills to park for the night.

We went over there earlier to see about staying for a couple of days.

I also wanted to inquire about the condition of the grass as it relates to my wheelpants.
All tied down for the night, wheelpants intact, I think.

Tomorrow morning up to Plymouth for an oil change and lunch thanks to Captain_ John

Default Griffing Sandusky

Sad to see that airport closing. I first started going there in the 60's on the way to Rockford and later Oshkosh from the Northeast. They used to have a great little snack bar. I had the pleasure of meeting Harry?? Griffing who was the original founder of the airport. Built in 1937.
Todays unfortunate reality is that with a publicly owned facility nearby it is very difficult to maintain a privately owned airport. The runway at Griffing is too short for most corporate traffic and there is no room for expansion.

Default The good news SKY

The good news about SKY, although the airport is closing (difficult to compete at a pvt strip against public funding) is that the FBO is staying in business. Moving just up the lake to Port Clinton.

Exclamation Photos disappeared???

What happened to the seven photos in Post #38 in this thread? They all have a Photobucket icon that says "Sorry. This person moved or deleted this image." I didn't get to see them.

I don't know what happened to those pix. Sometimes I have seen that on Photobucket and it's been temporary.
