Default You mean STRAKES?

They are devices to help eliminate or reduce tail shake at the stall. I find the shake to be a fine stall warning and see no need to do anything about it. They're just more stuff to stick out into the airstream and provide drag.

My .02 on it.

If you have "tail shake" at stall, please do what you can to relieve the problem. DO NOT USE THIS AS A STALL WARNING. This tail shake is not exactly flutter, but it has the same long term effect . Every "shake" puts stress on the attach points just like flutter does. I have seen the tail come off of an amateur-built aircraft in flight. It's NOT a pretty sight. Van's aircraft are built very strong, but they are not indestructable.

Agreed that the vibration/resonance isn't a postitive condition. But I also don't believe it's something that needs to be corrected.

Not sure if anyone ever tried VG's on the inner wing area . Maybe I'll try that one of these days to see if it helps the vibration.

2 cents
