Default Robinson V8 in a rocket

Looking at the Robinson LS1 to propel my HR2, its legal for Reno and can make gobs of HP but cooling is a great concern to me, any help and advise would be welcome.

The best results have generally be had with a ventral rad setup like a P51 with proper diverging/ converging duct and variable scoop exit to throttle flow and reduce drag at high speed. The RV airframe does not lend itself well to submerged rad designs without a lot of internal airframe structure re-design to beef it up after cutting big holes in the skin.

Default Russell Sherwood might be a good contact

Unfortunately I do not know how to contact him. He had a tri-gear retractable Glasair powered by a Suraru and the speed was outstanding until a brake failure on landing took him into and off runway encounter with a ditch resulting in extensive damage. He has not even started a repair process and it may never fly again. I had the impression that he developed the P-51 like cooling system but I do not know that for a fact. The point is he had it on his airplane and it seemed to work perfectly for several races - he was untouchable. If a guy could talk to him about it I don't think the guy would come away empty handed.

I have a new (test cell time only) Auto Aviation V8 built by George Morse himself. The engine is based on the 400cu in Rodeck aluminum block and is complete with PSRU, Air Flow Performance Fuel injection, prop governor, coolant pump and dual ignition. I have a second one of these engines that has about 180 hours on it and is complete less crankshaft and camshaft. The PSRU, fuel injection, and accessories are all there.

You can see some pictures of the engine and parts here:

http://www.prowlerjaguar.com/prowler/inventory.htm

I am in the process of repairing/restoring the prototype Prowler Aviation Jaguar (found in a barn where it had set for 15 years). These engines were built for this airplane. I am working with the new owner of the rights to the design and we are engineering an aircraft engine installation for the airplane.

If you are interested in these engines let me know. I would probably be in the area of $25K for both.
