Default GTX330 upgrade to ES ???

I emailed the Garmin help desk about what it would take to upgrade my GTX330 to a GTX330ES and they said send it back to them through a dealer and it would cost $1200.

Does anyone know what else would have to be done to comply with ADSb OUT and if by doing the upgrade if I would get any benefits of Weather and Traffic?

I currently get TIS & XM send to my single display/map only GDU375.

Would I have to add an antenna with this upgrade?

Would this upgrade take place of a GDL39 (minus the ADSb OUT of course )?

Thanks,

If you have your 330 upgraded to ES and you have it connected to a IFR certified GPS, then you would satify the ADSB Out mandate. Now this will not give you any benefit for ADSB weather or traffic, you would need the ADSB In component which could be the GDL 39. The nice part of the GDL 39 is that it has both 978 And 1090 receivers so you would see traffic from plane to plane for anyone that is transmitting with a 330ES or a 978 UAT or from the ADSB ground stations provided you are transmitting with the 330ES.

Thanks Guys!

I needed to better understand before I pulled the plug on the GDL39.

I'll just wait until the ADSb becomes required before I upgrade my 330 then.
