Default Wing bolts and washers

On the -8A the bottom nuts on the wing bolts are difficult to get to and you have to get the nut started before the bolt is all the way through. There will not be an easy way to remove this bolt if another washer needs to go under the nut. A washer will go under the bolt head since this will be how the thing it tightened.

My question for any -8A builders out there did you need any washers under the nut as well? I don't want to get the nut started then as the nut goes on and the bolt get hammered in further then to realize I need a washer.

Thanks for any help.

Cheers

Default re: wing bolts

Mike,
I put washers under both the bolt head and the nut. And yes it is a b**** to get those bottom bolts in, nuts started and then torqued but doable. Good luck. A big bottle of Motrin ready for when you get through. I used the crazy glue trick to glue the washer to the nut to keep from going totally insane every time I dropped the nut. And then the next week repeated the whole ordeal on a RV-9A. take care. Tim
