Instrument questions

I am doing 1 cyl on my egt,cht. which cyl is best to hook to? also i have a tach with the color strips to put on the glass. yellow green etc for the "arc" what is correct placement. rv7 IO360M1A fp

Typically #3 runs hottest on RVs.
