Default VA-195D Access Plate Gap

I am working on the leading edge for my RV-7 wings. This is the access plate that goes on the bottom of the left leading edge for service to the stall warning system. The skin came with the cutout for the plate but it just seems like this is a big gap. Am I missing something here or is this how it is supposed to be? The gap is 1/16" all the way around. Thanks in advance for the replies.

That plate for my 9A wings was exactly the same. I made a new plate from the bundle of extra pieces that Vans sends and used the original for a drilling template.
