Dickering for an engine from salvage...

Is buying an engine from a salvage yard like buying a car? i.e. You can get a better deal if you're willing to dicker.

Or do they pretty much have set prices that they don't budge from?

It depends on who you are "dickering" with. Some will dicker and some won't.

The most important thing is to know the reputation of the "seller".

I bought my engine from Lucky at Air Salvage of Dallas.
Lucky has the reputation of being the most honest guy in aviation.
