Default Is remote ELT switch in the cockpit/panel required?

I did a search and had no luck, not saying it is not previously posted, I just did not find it.

Is a remote ELT switch required in the cockpit for experimental aircraft? If you could provide rule/reference that would be awesome too.

It's a TSO that governs what features the ELT must have, for ELTs installed after a certain date. It's TSO C-91a that specifies a remote switch and visual indicator for the ELT. Applies to both experimental and certificated aircraft

Edit: single-seat airplanes still don't need no steenkin' ELT

Default Not all require remote switch

The NEW EBC 406 ELT is approved under the appropriate TSOs and does not require a remote switch if it is mounted within reach of the pilot.

That's good to know. Since I'll probably have to upgrade the ELT in my new RV-6 to a 406 unit someday too soon.
