Default fuel flow information

I installed the float type fuel sender and the Vans fuel gauges. They have worked fine. However, I was wondering about capacitive fuel senders and fuel flow information. Is there a capacitive sender that will interchange with the vans float sender or does that decision have to be made when the tanks are built? What is the best and most economical option for obtaining fuel flow rates without buying the full EIS system from one of the various suppliers? thanks, jack
