Any -4/-6 folks with bottom wing skin pics??
I have my bottom skins clecoed on. The factory skins come with the wing access panel hole already joggled. (I think) I cannot find any location, and only partial dimensional data, for the access hole. It seems to be about 10.125" fore and aft, but no dim. for width.
Anyone with dimensions? Pics?
Thanks,
Gregg

Not Joggled
Hi Greg
My four, which granted is an old one does not have this joggled, you mount a backing plate under the skin and rivet it on. I will post a photo on my blog for you.

Wing access hole
Steve, many thanks. I knew that I would have to make a back plate to rivet to the skin. I'd just like to know where, and how big to cut the hole...
Thanks for the pic and help.
Gregg

Dimensions for the -4 are on the plans page that shows the bellcrank gusset mod (W-425). I got my drawing when the mod was first produced, it doesn't have a drawing number on it, but it replaces drawing 16. Mine was not pre-joggled, have to cut the hole and the flange.

Got it!!
Nauga, many many thanks. That is exactly what I was looking for. I have the drawing 16, but it is a new drawing. The skins already come with the cutout and joggle. Now I can proceed!
Again, Thanks!
Gregg

Another issue.....
Well, I laid out the location of the access hole per the drawing. Now, the flange for the W-425 reinforcement will not permit the backing plate to fit. There is probably a simple solution here, but I am missing it. Ideas?
Head scratching,
Gregg

I'm with Steve, a pic would help. By 'backing plate' do you mean the flange that the bellcrank access hatch is screwed to? The part marked "reinforcing ring" in the drawing I posted? If so, according to my supplemental drawing (that came with the W425 update) the 425 gusset sits on top of the aft side of this plate and there's a spacer between W425 and the bottom skin inboard of the reinforcing ring (and this is the way I built it). My wings are off and this panel is open, I'll see if I can get some decent pics sometime today.

joggle vs. step
Not sure on your question, but if you have the joggles skins then there is no backing plate.
The backing plate provided a step (which the joggle replaces) for the access cover.

A few pics...
Yeah guys, it is the 'reinforcement ring'. Where I am perplexed, is that, I put the W-425 gussett in the EXACT location per drawing 16a. I cut out the access hole per the spanwise dimension on drawing 19, and the chordwise dimension listed above. I have stared at this all afternoon. Hope these pics help.
See, the 425 gussett is already drilled and clecoed to ribs at station 71.25 and 81.25. I MIGHT be able to adjust the flange that faces the skin, to allow for the reinforcement ring to fit under it gussett without bulging the skin.
Thanks for the help,
Gregg
