Default Tip: Air Compressors

OK guys, I know that some of you are about to buy an air compressor for your project. By all means get one that is lubricated.

I had a small 15 gallon oil-less Campbell-Hausfeld air compressor that was noisier than an F-14's afterburners on takeoff. I sold it because, by all accounts, it was too small for my RV project. I searched for a lubricated 30 gal. compressor but everything I found was set to run off of 240V or was 60 gallons or more.

Finally I went at Tractor Supply. They have (had?) a 5 hp (max) 115V 125 psi twin cylinder lubricated compressor. This thing is so quite I could actually talk to my wife standing next to thing and not raise my voice. This will be a plus late at night (insomnia) and I just gotta do some drillin'. The neighbors will never know I'm working.

This quieter compressor only cost $299. Not much more than you'd pay for a oil-less type.
